Balrog – Next in Line on Street Fighter V’s Update

There will be new characters that will be coming to Street Fighter V come July 1. Capcom announced that Balrog (the boxer) will return in the fighting game series. He will bring his old move-sets, while also introducing new ones to the fold. Aside from Balrog, Ibuki will also be included in the update. Originally, Ibuki was slated for a May release. However, her released was delayed. Aside from these two characters, the update will also include the story mode (finally for some of the gamers here at Emkan!).

During the CEO 2015, which is a fighting game tournament that belongs to the Capcom Pro Tour 2016, Balrog was showcased and boy did he punch his way into everyone’s minds. Aside from Balrog, the presentation of CEO hinted two more upcoming characters Juri and Urien.

Balrog is a classic roster member of Street Fighter. He was also part of the Super Street Fighter IV roster. In the character showcase, Balrog is presented as someone deals with rush-down and overhead punches, similar to one of our managers here at Emkan (let this post not be seen by him).

Street Fighter V was heavily criticized for omitting a story mode at launch. Seems like this update should address that issue right away. The story mode contains over an hour worth of cinematic content. This story mode should also bridge the narrative between this game and its predecessor, Street Fighter IV.

Ibuki and Balrog are the third and fourth DLC character respectively. Alex and Guile came before them. The other upcoming characters are Juri and Urien. These DLC characters are unlockable through the usual grinding without a need to pay. However, for those who are impatient, these characters can be earned through online purchases. Street Fighter V follows a “drip” release schedule instead of a full release at launch. Updates are regularly published to improve and add new characters and features to the base game.

Street Fighter V is available only on the PlayStation 4 and PC.
