In anticipation of the upcoming Battlefield 1, EA is now giving away Battlefield DLCs. The latest of the crop is Battlefield 4’s Naval Strike add-on.  This add-on is usually for sale at price of $15 for free both on the Xbox One and the Xbox 360.

The PlayStation family and PC versions of the game may also offer the DLC for free. However, as of this writing it is not the case but historically whenever EA offers something like this it is across all platforms where the game is available. The file sizes of the DLC are the following: 4.11 GB for the Xbox One and 1.24 GB for the Xbox 360. The Naval Strike DLC was already available last August 2015 for free but only for those who are enrolled in the EA Access program.

The Naval Strike add-on was first introduced in March 2014. It offers four new multiplayer maps, five new weapons, two gadgets, and a new hovercraft. The hovercraft was unique because it can travel both on land and in water. The DLC also has the Carrier Assault mode packaged in. This mode is an homage Battlefield 2142 Titan mode.

The Battlefield 1 marketing campaign has seen several big DLCs going on for free in both the last two Battlefield titles, Battlefield 4 and Battlefield Hardline. Last month, EA also offered Battlefield 4’s Second Assault expansion for free. Battlefield Hardline earlier this month also had a similar promotion with its own add-on, Betrayal, offered at no monetary cost and no extra measures like being a member of the EA Access. All of these promotions are within time constraint, and it is expected that Naval Strike will follow the same routine. Once the promotion goes live, users have one week to grab the freebies for free before they are up for sale again.

Battlefield 1 is expected to be released on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC come October 2016. The public beta should be available this summer. The game is being developed by DICE with EA as the publisher. One of the few confirmed features are the return of Rush mode, six distinct classes including Tankers and Pilots, the usual support of 64 players in multiplayer, and worldwide locations that include Arabia, the Western Front, and the Alps. This is the fourteenth installment of the highly popular first-person shooter franchise and the first World War I game published by EA since 1994.
