Octopuses are strange, albeit crafty and intelligent, creatures. We all know about their incredible camouflage skills and their ability to solve puzzles. But who knew that these cephalopods of the order Octopoda could actually be capable of inspiring scientists to design a robot after them? Researchers have designed the first soft-bodied robot and it is shaped like an Octopus and is oddly cute.

Named “Octobot”, this palm-sized robot is made out of silicone and uses gas produced from chemical reactions to flex its robotic arms.
